To create a cutting garden choose a sunny location away from the more formal designed sections.  Some people find a sunny spot near the garage or a shed.  The reason for this is that you can mix and match colors and not have that clash with the main sections of the garden.

You want to have the cutting garden set up so its easy to weed, feed and cut those flowers.  Plant them in rows similar to how you would a vegetable garden.  Some folks even mix their cut flowers in-between their vegetables.  One year I lined my entire garden with dahlias and it looked great.

During the summer be sure to give your garden 1” of water each week.  I recommend watering less but longer not watering everyday.    I use a time release fertilizer mixed into the soil as well as watering with a liquid fertilizer.  When choosing a liquid fertilizer look for one with high amounts of phosphate, that’s the middle number on the packaging.   This will help promote more blossoms.
