How To Make Sun Dried Tomatoes

Here are the easy steps to making wonderful sun dried tomatoes.

  • Purchase 6-10lbs of tomatoes
  • Slice the tomatoes lengthwise
  • Scoop out the seeds and jelly.
  • Spray your sheet or drying rack with no stick spray
  • Place the tomatoes sliced side up on a cookie sheet or drying rack.  (The drying rack gives a crisper dried tomato)
  • Brush the tomatoes with olive oil. 
  • Lightly sprinkle any or all of the following
            Salt, Pepper,Garlic,Oregano,Paprika,Hot Pepper or your favorite spice

 

  • Set the tomatoes in the oven at 200 degrees (yes 200 degrees)
  • Leave them for 6-10 hours.  Check them after 6. 
  • Enjoy in salads, pasta or sandwiches.  Stores well for up to 4 weeks.
