oing to spend a ton of time writing about what is already out there.  However, let me break it down for you in very simple terms.
1. Find a container to start the seeds.  You can use almost anything. I even use egg crates.
2. Use a seed starting soil mix.  Regular soil is too heavy. 
3. Keep soil moist until the seeds germinate. I even use a clear cover to keep the humidity high.
4. Use grow lights to keep the plants from stretching.
5. Don't water the seedlings until they are dry.  This helps promote roots
6. Pot the seedlings into bigger containers if they out grow the smaller ones.
7. Start your seeds 4-6 weeks before placing them outside. If you start them too early they will grow too big and may need to be potted up to larger sizes several times.
8. Don't over water!
